Mobile Vision Clinic Offers Free Eye Exams Across New Hampshire

Date: 10/09/17

NH Healthy Families is hitting the road to bring free vision screenings and prescription eyewear to families across New Hampshire from Oct. 23-27.

Uncorrected refracted errors (nearsigthedness, farsightedness, etc.) are the main cause of moderate to severe visual impairment, according to the World Health Organization1. Eye health is especially problematic for people without health insurance, as they often lack the resources to correct eye issues before they potentially worsen.

NH Healthy Families’ mobile vision clinic is making eye health more accessible, much like it does through its Ambetter and Medicaid products. The mobile vision clinic will stop by 10 cities and towns throughout the week, providing eye exams for adults and children to identify potential vision problems. If the exams identify the need for prescriptive eyewear, then NH Healthy Families will cover the full cost of the glasses. The mobile vision clinic is free and open to all residents. Participants do not have to be members of NH Healthy Families to take advantage of this opportunity.
